Story
Under Guru Vashishtha the princes learnt Veda‑shastra, dhanur‑vidya, niti and rajadharma. Knowledge in the Ramayana is not for pride; it is for seva. Ram excelled quietly, Lakshman stood inseparable from him; Bharat and Shatrughna embodied duty. Their education forged character—samyam (self‑control), karuna (compassion) and satya (truthfulness).
Why it matters
The princes' schooling establishes what kind of king Ram will become long before he ever takes the throne — shaped by restraint and duty rather than privilege. It's an early reminder that the epic treats character, not birthright, as the true qualification to rule.
